The “Hurt Locker” Will Win For Best Picture

“The Hurt Locker” by Kathryn Bigelow will win this year’s academy award for best picture. The film looks like a documentary but doesn’t feel like one. The audience experiences fear, sadness, relief, exaltation and most of all tension along with the actors as they await the outcome of each scene in which a soldier must disarm an IED. This emotional roller coaster races from the beginning to the end of the film. Bigelow also peeks into the personal pain these fighting men must battle when they return home to a normal life that is no longer normal for them. The movie has paralyzing tension and  heartrending emotion. The award goes to “The Hurt Locker.”

  1. I think you’re right, despite my hopes for Avatar. But we’ll know in a few hours

  2. As I suspected, you were right. I even understand why it happened. Still, I think its a shame. Good science fiction–even FAIR science fiction is hard to come by on the big screen. Most of what passes for SciFi these days is just an excuse for a blood-bath. I would have liked to see more writers, producers and directors inspired to go into a genre I love.
